Welcome to full moons, new moons, eclipses, and the start of the season of birth and growth. This is a time for major transformations and shifts in our lives, our community, and the world around us. Let’s be real, change can be scary. But this is not a time to succumb to fear and self-doubt. In fact, it’s time to strap on those gloves and knock out the lower vibrational energy trying to keep you stagnant and drag you down off your throne.

Need I remind you that you are magic? Sit for a moment with your eyes closed and tune into yourself. Feel the sensations flowing throughout your body from your toes to your crown and back down. Do you feel that? It’s the energy swirling all around you and inside of you. This energy can be shifted and changed with our thoughts, what’s in our hearts, and what we focus on daily. You control your destiny with the guidance of Spirit. When you’re feeling overwhelmed by change or resistance to it, remind yourself of your magic and breathe.

Utilize the full moon and lunar eclipse to shed old patterns, ways of thinking, and any blockages to your greatness. This could be a person you’ve outgrown. Take stock of the people you keep close in your circle. Are they all in your best interest?

When is the Full Moon in Virgo and the Lunar Eclipse?

The Virgo full moon peaks on March 14 at 2:54 a.m. ET and will be joined by a total lunar eclipse. The totality of the lunar eclipse will last for approximately 65 minutes, so if you are in the Eastern time zone, the moon will be completely engulfed in the Earth’s shadow from 2:26 a.m. to 3:31 a.m.

What do the Full Moon in Virgo and the Lunar Eclipse mean?

Full moons provide potent energy to cleanse our spirits of anything that may block our forward movement and growth. The lunar eclipse, which only occurs during full moons, amplifies that potent energy. It’s when Earth moves between the sun and the moon, casting a shadow on the moon. Take a moment to really contemplate how outrageous it is when our planet dances between the sun and the moon and momentarily obstructs any light we see from our lunar companion. Are you still doubting the magic within?

This auspicious event is a great time to take stock of our lives and what we envision our lives to be. How are you living as opposed to how you want to live? What can you do today, even the smallest thing, that could set you on the course to living the life you truly desire? Remember that our journey is not about leaps and bounds. Instead, we are to take things step by step, being present along the way.

Get grounded in this Virgo full moon energy. The sixth zodiac sign is represented by the virgin maiden and is known to be logical, practical, and a bit of a perfectionist. We are not striving for perfection, so be aware of the demands you place on yourself. Virgo’s groundedness and work ethic are what you want to tap into during this time, even if it isn’t your sun, moon, or rising sign. With Mercury as its ruling planet, you want to get crystal clear on what you want and what no longer serves your journey. While Mercury’s communication is channeled through Gemini, with Virgo, it amplifies analytical thinking and being practical. This Virgo full moon will help you get your ducks in a row as we enter the season of growth and rebirth.

Spiritual Cleansing Limpia for the Full Moon in Virgo and Lunar Eclipse

Ingredients:

Florida Water

Sage

Palo Santo

Pink Himalayan salt

Sea salt

Herbs: lavender, rosemary, fennel

Flowers: chrysanthemums, daisies, buttercups

Crystals: amethyst, clear quartz, amazonite, red jasper, hematite

Essential oils: eucalyptus, vetiver, chamomile

Ritual:

  1. Begin by cleansing your space with sage, followed by palo santo. Allow their sacred smoke to float around your space and set your intentions verbally as you do so, as well as thanking the herb and tree for their healing and cleansing properties.

  2. Spritz your palms with Florida Water, rub your hands together, and take a deep inhale of the spiritual cologne to ground your energy and senses. You can even wipe down countertops, your shower or tub, and even the objects on your altar with Florida Water for a spiritual and physical cleanse.

  3. Next, bring a big pot of filtered or distilled water to a gentle boil and add a few handfuls of the herbs you’ve chosen to work with as well as one cup of sea salt and one cup of Pink Himalayan salt. Mix everything in with a wooden spoon until the salt dissolves.

  4. Allow this herbal salt water to simmer for 10 minutes before removing it from the heat to cool to a temperature that feels good to you and is safe to pour onto your skin.

  5. Add a few splashes of Florida Water and several drops of essential oils to the water and mix in with a wooden spoon or your hands as you pray and set intentions.

  6. Cover the top of your limpia water with flower petals, saving some of the flowers to place in a vase.

  7. You can make a Virgo full moon and lunar eclipse altar with the remaining flowers, a candle, and crystals. Find a spot in your space that calls to you and build your altar there. You can sit and journal or meditate near the altar before or after your spiritual limpia.

  8. Drain your limpia water into a big bowl and bring it with you to the shower. Clean your body physically first, and when you’re ready, lift the limpia bowl and gently pour it over your shoulders and head, feeling the water flow down your body, removing impurities along the way. As the water drains, say words of gratitude for removing what no longer serves you so you can continue healing and becoming everything you know yourself to be and more.
